PRESTON, Lancs. — Lancashire looks to immediately bounce back when it heads to Derby on Sunday. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. at the Clarence Wiggins Sports Centre at Noel-Baker School.
The Spinners ended their three-game home stand with a 1-2 record following a 79-64 loss to Hemel on Saturday. Lancashire shot just 34.2 percent (26-of-76) from the floor and 25.8 percent (8-of-31) from 3-point land, and commit 19 turnovers for a third time this season.
Lancashire holds a 6-17 mark overall and 5-13 record in National League 1. The Spinners, who remained in 11th place in the standings despite the loss, are shooting 40.6 percent (506-of-1246) and are averaging 75.8 points in league play.
Guard Mark Rangeley is coming of an eight-point performance against the Storm on Saturday, which ended a streak of eight games in double-figures scoring. Rangeley paces Lancashire in scoring at 16.3 points per game on 42.2 percent (97-of-230) shooting, including 39.3 percent (46-of-117) from distance. His 5.6 rebounds ranks second on the team.
Jack Hudson is Lancashire’s second leading scorer with 14.8 points and has a team best 87 assists. Connor Murtagh reached double-figures for the first time since Dec. 18 before missing four games. Murtagh is averaging 12.4 points on 41.3 percent shooting (66-of-160).
Forward David Ulph recorded his fifth-straight double-double on Sunday finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ulph is averaging 11.1 points on a team-best 49.2 percent (65-of-132) shooting and 10.2 rebounds. He’s grabbed 10-plus boards in 11 games this season, including a streak of six in a row.
Derby enters Sunday pressing for a top-four finish and is 18-7 overall and 13-15 in league play. The Trailblazers routed London on Saturday behind 34 points from Jake Wesselingh at home where it is 3-2 over the last five games and for a third-straight win.
Sunday’s matchup will be the fifth meeting overall between the two with Derby holding a 3-2 series lead, including a playoff victory over the Spinners in the first-round last season. The Trailblazers ran out 82-59 winners over Lancashire on Nov. 26 at Castle Leisure Centre.
