A day after setting a personal-best of 16 points, David Walsh went for 27, including seven 3-pointers, and the Lancashire Spinners dismantled Liverpool to reach the National Cup Fourth-Round.
James Banton had 20 points – also an individual high on the season – and Mark Rangeley added 18 for the Spinners (1-5) in a lopsided 119-50 win at Myerscough College on Sunday.
Lancashire, who led 18-4 after just four minutes, was never challenged as it built a 33-point advantage in the first quarter.
Walsh highlighted his own performance hitting a 30-foot 3-pointer with the shot clock dying in the third quarter, which received an ovation from the crowd.
“I understand my range,” said Walsh, who had to refreshed of the moment. “I didn’t really think about anything all game other than I’ve got the hot hand and the shot is going to drop.”
Former Spinner Andre Gayle was among a trio of Liverpool players to score in double-figures contributing 11 points each.
The win was the third-straight in the competition and fourth overall against Liverpool (2-4). The Spinners advanced to the quarterfinals of the National Trophy a season ago.
