BRADFORD — Connor Murtagh scored a team-high 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting, but the forward could not lift the Spinners to victory in the National League.
Mark Rangeley had 20 points and Jack Hudson added 18 for Lancashire (0-5, 0-2 NBL1), who was edged 102-96 at Bradford on Saturday despite shooting a season-best 54 percent from the floor (12 for 28 on 3-pointers).
David Walsh entered averaging just 1.3 points through four games before setting a new season-high of 16 whilst converting 6-of-9 attempts.
“This still gives us real confidence, especially with us recognising how well we can play when we’re locked in. We’re continuing to develop, but this was a step in the right direction,” said Spinners guard Walsh.
The Spinners held a 75-72 advantage heading to the fourth quarter after trailing by just a point at halftime. But they were outscored 30-21 over the deciding 10 minutes.
Marcus Gooding – 39 points and nine 3-pointers – was one of five Dragons in double-figures scoring. Rihards Sulcs, who had 24 points in the National Trophy win over the Spinners on Oct. 1, was limited to 14. Ricky Fetske scored 14 and Jason Swaine and Jermayne Laing added 12 apiece.
Bradford (2-3, 1-1) was 38-for-61 from the field (15 for 26 from 3-point range).
NOTES: Tied for 42 rebounds each … Lancashire 13-8 on offensive rebounds … Bradford 24-19 on defensive rebounds … The Spinners had 16 points off 11 Bradford turnovers.
