Lancashire looks to avoid falling to a third-straight league defeat when it hosts winless Westminster in the final home game of the year on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 5:45 p.m. at Myerscough College with Live Stats available.
The Spinners came within a game of reaching .500 in National League 1, but two defeats last weekend saw them slip to 3-6 (4-10 overall). Following Saturday, Lancashire will end 2016 on the road at Solent and Essex.
The third-ever meeting with Westminster will be the first at Myerscough College and the second home game away from Castle Leisure Centre in 2016-17. Lancashire, who swept the season series last year against the Warriors, routed Liverpool by 69 points at Myerscough on Oct. 16 in the National Cup.
Lancashire converted a season-high 46 field goals against Liverpool at Myerscough where it finished shooting 53.5 percent from the field and 45.7 percent (16-of-35) from 3-point. The Spinners had shot just 33.3 percent (132-of-396) at Castle Leisure Centre in six games.
First-year guard Jack Hudson and second-year forward Connor Murtagh lead four Spinners averaging in double figures scoring in league play at 14.4 and 14.3 points per game, respectively. Six players on the roster are contributing six points or more per contest, including David Walsh, who has had 10-plus points six times and 20-plus twice overall.
Swingman Mark Rangeley ranks third on the team with 14.0 points on 42.6 percent (46-of-108) shooting and 5.4 rebounds. Power forward David Ulph leads the team in rebounding at 9.3 per game and 65 total in league play. But despite averaging 10.1 ponts, Ulph has not reached double figures in six games.
Westminster (2-12) travels north still searching for its first division win having dropped all eight games entering Saturday. The Warriors have been outscored by a 23.5 margin in National League action.
Lancashire is 9-8 at home in 2016, including 84-71 win over the Warriors to end January. Murtagh led the Spinners with 16 points and five rebounds, which kick-started a three-game winning streak.
