Ken Masser, General Manger of Basketball England’s Lancashire Spinners, announced on Wednesday that the club has added guard James Banton, who will also attend Myerscough College, to the roster for the 2016-17 season.

“James has already established himself as a talented player at a young age and I’m excited to see the continued progression he’ll make whilst at Myerscough College and with the Spinners,” said Masser.

Banton, 18, played for Leeds Allerton High School Force in the U18 Northern Premier and National League Division Three, as well as the U19 Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL) in 2015-16 where he averaged 14 points, 3.0 steals, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists in seven games. He averaged 23 points in Allerton’s debut season in the EABL in 2014-15.

Prior to joining the Leeds junior programme in 2012 as an under-14, Banton (6’0”, 80 kg.) was part of the Bradford Dragons setup.
