U16 BURY SPINNERS 109, LANCASHIRE SPINNERS (ROSSENDALE) 28

RAWTENSTALL, Lancs. — Bury’s speed and defensive intensity proved too much for their club-mates, as they were runaway winners at Rossendale on Saturday.

Joe Heyes had 26 points, including the team’s first eight, to lead Bury (16-1), who maintained its position at the top of the league standings. Sol Prince added 19, and Danny Marsh and Callum Brady combined for 23.

Luke Stott scored eight points for ninth-placed Rossendale (5-14) whilst Mo Ahmed had six in a 109-28 defeat.

Rossendale replied to a fast start from Bury with Baily Thompson-Western converting a 3-point play. Though the visitors started to eke out the lead before a 12-0 run over the remaining two minutes of the opening quarter made it 35-12.

The hosts, however, failed to take advantage of a two-minute Bury scoreless drought, despite getting to the free throw line six times and Bury led 55-20 at halftime and never looked back.

Rossendale: Luke Stott 8, Mo Ahmed 6, Myles Winckley 5, Bailey Thompson-Western 5, Chris Williams 4.

Bury: Joe Heyes 26, Sol Prince 19, Danny Marsh 13, Callum Brady 10, Rob tansfield 9, Joshua McLaughlin 7, Luc Baldwin 6, Mark McCoy 6, Csaba Grill 5, Dan Johnson 4, Oscar Wipp 2, Kelvin Chen 2.
